Computer Vision Engineer
We are seeking a high-autonomy Computer Vision Engineer to join our Startup Studio, focusing on the rapid development of AI-native defense products. This role is dedicated to moving from 0 to 1, building technical foundations for unmanned aerial and ground systems that solve real combat problems. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of CV-driven capabilities, from lab prototype to field-testable MVP within a strict three-month cycle. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer to deploy battle-proven solutions that materially outperform systems currently at scale in the ZSU.
Key Responsibilities
● Domain – Focus Areas & Deliverables
● Targeting & ISR – Develop and deploy Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) algorithms on FPV and ISR drone feeds, utilizing sparse battlefield imagery and synthetic data pipelines.
● Autonomous Navigation – Implement low-cost autonomous navigation using Visual SLAM and terrain-following techniques for operationin GPS-denied or EW-dense environments.
● Edge Inference – Optimize and deploy computer visionmodels on SWaP-constrained hardware, including Raspberry Pi 5, NVIDIA Jetson, and other edge payloads.
● Multi-Sensor Fusion – Design multi-sensor detect-to-engage chains integrating optical, thermal(microbolometer), and SWIR sensors to identify threats like fiber-guided FPVs.
● Field Validation – Participate in one-week Validation Sprintsto test the highest-risk technicalassumptions through rapid prototyping and operator feedback.
● Object Tracking: Building robust algorithms for kinetic C-UAS interceptors and kamikaze drones.
● Infrastructure Protection: Developing networks of intelligent cameras for early detection of low-altitude aerial targets.
● Data Strategy: Creating synthetic data generation pipelines to train models where real-world battlefield data is limited or classified.
Required Qualifications
● Engineering Speed: Demonstrated ability to build and launch MVPs quickly, emphasizing "0 to 1" execution and strong system thinking.
● CV Expertise: Deep experience in full-stack computer vision development, specifically for robotics or autonomous systems.
● Hardware Integration: Hands-on experience with edge AI inference hardware and integrating sensors like CMOS, SWIR, and thermal starlight sensors.
● Software Proficiency: Strong skills in Python and C++, with practical experience in modern frontend/backend stacks and LLM/AI tool integration.
● Robotics Frameworks: Familiarity with robotics middleware and deploying CV models into core product experiences.
● Autonomy & Ownership: A self-starter capable of taking technical responsibility for results and working without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Work Environment & Mission
Our Startup Studio operates on an AI-first principle, where AI is the core product
experience rather than a decorative feature. We follow a rigorous triage and
development process designed for speed and operational relevance.
● Mission-Critical Work: We focus on solving immediate battlefield needs, such as jam-proof strike drones and squad-level protection systems.
● High-Speed Execution: We prioritize field-testable MVPs that can be delivered by small teams (3 or fewer people) in under 90 days.
● Evidence-Based Decisions: Our culture is anchored in observable outcomes—we kill ideas that lack user pull and double down on those with proven field performance.
● Impact: You will have a real influence on the products we build, with equity opportunities for candidates joining us at the start of this venture.
